From the small town of Ballymoney Joey and his brother Robert burst onto the motorcycling scene in the 1980s. Their brand of speed and style won them fans worldwide – and many races.
But road racing is a dangerous sport, the roads that make up the circuits are lined with fences, stone walls, houses, streetlights and road signs. All the ‘furniture’ feels very hard when a rider comes to a dead stop from nearly 200mph.
Despite serious crashes and injuries both Joey and Robert raced on until the sport that had given them so much took their lives.
